Drawings, Studies, Photography and Monotypes
Photography of my surroundings is a huge part of my process. I then draw, sketch and experiment - filling sketchbooks full of ideas, shape, line and colour. This involves considerable hours of practice and happens long before I approach the canvas. This is work that is rarely seen, it is rather private and part of the process that results in paintings. All of it starts with a thought, feeling or emotion.
"A work of art which did not originate from emotion is not art.
Emotion is the starting point, the beginning and the end.
Craftmanship, execution, technique are in the middle." Cezanne.
