On-Going Narratives

Rather than present or portray a particular person or story, these paintings represent participants in unfinished narratives. I am interested in distorted figures, not a realistic human form but one that is shaped or wispy - a suggestive version of the human body as merely a vessel for inner resolve.   I aim to evoke a sense of possibility with these paintings, inviting the viewer to participate with the figures in the potential journey that awaits. The figures refer to the material body - preserved both in form and wax suggesting the protective, grounded emotions, as well as the conflicting unstable ones carried within the body. Working in the medium of encaustic allows the flow of the narrative to build through fused layers of beeswax, culminating in a journey of possibilities.
